Due to a limited number of licensed sessions being able to connect to RDS sessions at a time, we may get tickets regarding users not being able to sign into RDS sessions.

With the maximum number of connections reached, this means we can't remote on to then log out disconnected sessions. To force a connection and clear disconnected users, follow the below:

  1. Windows + R to open a Run command line and paste - mstsc /v: pr-gb-rds-11 /admin
  2. Change the server name to applicable server. This will force a connection to the specified server
  3. Sign in with your admin credentials
  4. open task manager, navigate to "Users" tab and sign out any disconnected sessions

It might be worth repeating this on all associated VMs as the likes of SUN Desktop VMs load balance, meaning if a user can't connect, it's likely there are open but disconnected sessions on all associated VMs

Worth noting, you can also check the status of a VM using vSphere Client
